Fundamentally, confidence is your capacity to repeat past success. That's it. To become special, you increase your capacity. The thought that you are putting work into yourself to make yourself more capable has a physical foreshadowing effect that you will eventually become special. Hence you start to experience positive emotions about yourself. You become more confident.
